kybun Opinions

Jiří Šedivý, M.D., head of the Department of Orthopedics, Jihlava Hospital, Czech Republic

kybun shoes ideally combine three important factors of healthy and pleasant walking in shoes – the springiness of every step, comfort – thanks to the perfect shape and spaciousness of the shoe – and easy lower extremities workout and exercise just through regular walking, thanks to the principle of the unstable underfoot. Engaging maximum muscles of lower extremities as well as the torso automatically leads to their strengthening. Involving all muscles in regular walking also results in significant performance boost of the “muscle pump”, which has a wholesome effect on the venous and lymphatic system of lower extremities. Walking in these shoes therefore relieves chronic back and joint pain, is beneficial for overstrained tendons and ligaments and last but not least it can reduce tension and pressure in calves. The main use of kybun shoes is for me walking on hard surfaces – walking to work in the city, intensive city tourism (excursion tours, etc.). But you will greatly benefit from them in lighter terrain as well. Put on the kybun shoes and your feet will be grateful to you!! On top of that, they are just comfy to walk in…

Franz Heinzer, World Champion and Swiss Ski Junior Coach

If I need to stand for a long time or spend a lot of time on my feet, then I put them on. I even go on mountain runs while wearing my kybun shoes. They’re suitable for light exercise. But I really do need them for exercising.

Björn Caviezel, CEO Heidiland Tourismus AG

It’s the shoe for every occasion. If you’re on the go a lot. Whenever I take my dog for a walk, I always wear my kybun shoes. Nothing else even comes close.

Heidi Frei from Switzerland

My mother and my brother, for example, have told me that I have been much more agile when I’m out and about. Maybe I haven’t noticed it myself, but other people have been telling me that I seem a lot more agile when I’m on the go. I’m much fitter throughout the day, because it doesn’t hurt me to wear it and it doesn’t rob me of my energy.

I had trouble walking for almost two years, since I had a herniated disc. Then a friend gave me a pair of these shoes. I wore them regularly when I went out, which helped me walk again. Now everything’s good again. Thanks to the kybun shoe? Yes, thanks to kybun and my prayers.

You always have to work a bit with your body. That means that you’re always moving and I think that is what keeps your body fit. Which, at the end of the day, contributes to a healthy posture.

Evelyne Will, geriatric nurse

I had the opportunity to test the kyBoot for a couple of days, and when I was walking in it, I felt like I was floating on clouds. It was easy to walk in it, and I was able to move about quickly, even though I’m fairly short! Once I have moved house, I will be ordering a pair of kyBoot shoes. To wear kyBoot shoes is to have a footwear experience!

I am 71 and my left leg was recently amputated above the knee. I stumbled upon kyBoot online and I learned all about it from Mr Zeller over the phone. Two days later, a pair of kyBoot test shoes was delivered to my house. I was allowed to try them at home for two days and then keep them or send them back. After wearing and walking in the kyBoot shoes for three minutes, I picked up the phone and bought the shoes! I have never had shoes that are so soft, fit so well and look so fashionable! I have now been wearing them all day every day for 14 days and they are great. I now walk a lot more than I did in my old shoes! Five days ago, my wife ordered some kyBoot sandals from Mr Zeller and she only takes them off when she gets into bed! She is absolutely thrilled with the sandals. I would readily recommend kyBoot shoes! Thank you so much, Mr Zeller!

It helps a lot, as we have seen in recent years in rehabilitation with physiotherapy, and as Simon Storm explained. It also does a great deal in terms of prevention and treatment for worn-out joints. So I find it areally good idea, one which certainly has a future, and which has already been confirmed and no longer has to prove itself.

When you’re standing, you have to be more active; if you’re sitting in a comfortable seat, you tend to feel a bit tired instead.

We use similar products at the sports hall to encourage muscle stability. But I have to say, we haven’t had anything like this before. Either they were too wobbly or they didn’t make any real difference. I think this mat could really be a good surface for us to try out at our sports hall.

Wherever I’m going, I enjoy walking in them because they are so comfy. You can walk on stony ground and up and down stairs without a problem.

Haeme Ulrich, speaker and trainer from Switzerland

There are two reasons for this. First, they are very comfortable. And second, they involve a lot of movement. These factors are important for me, since, as an office person, I don’t have many opportunities to be active.

Haeme Ulrich, speaker and trainer from Switzerland

Nicola Phillip from Switzerland

I felt quite free as a result of this movement. I often find myself shifting the weight of my body from one leg to the other. So today I tried to make sure that I was distributing my weight evenly onto both legs and feet at the same time. This was very comfortable.

Nathalie Signer from Switzerland

It feels very comfortable right away. The mat makes it far easier to stay standing. At some point, I found myself feeling tired and needed to move my legs to make it easier to stay standing and not need to sit down again. Soon afterwards, I felt comfortable again.

Leandra Kissling from Switzerland

It was great to try something new, since I often have back pain when I sit for a long time, and my eyes begin to close when I am particularly tired. You are constantly in motion when you are standing on the mat, which makes you feel active and keeps you more awake. It leaves a tingling sensation afterwards – I feel like I’ve just received a foot massage. I think it’s great.

Leandra Kissling from Switzerland

Priscilla Werner from Switzerland

It is exciting. The mat makes you feel like you are standing in a forest. You need to keep moving, because you are constantly compensating for the variations within the surface.

Ursi Rieder from Switzerland

It’s a very comfortable feeling, since I am used to standing a lot anyway. I have a standing desk at the office where I work so I find it very important to be able to move. It simply makes me feel good to be moving not only when I’m at work but also in my daily life in general.

I feel it does my body good to be constantly moving. There’s no more stiffness, and I’ve the feeling that it is gradually going. I think it’s great that I can stand during the day with these shoes.

I also wear mine at work because we have standing desks. Wearing these shoes means that I spend much more time on my feet. Standing makes a nice change from sitting down all day at the office. It’s super!

Marco Sessa from Switzerland

I notice that I am very light on my feet and never get tired. I can work the entire day and have no pain when I wake up the next morning. Before I started using the kyBoot, I would experience cramping and had a hard time standing up the next morning. That’s why it’s a real plus to feel good and always have the sensation of floating ever so slightly.

These shoes are a must for anyone who wants to be very active. I don’t know how I managed without them. Going back to wearing normal shoes would be a huge loss.

It definitely gives you a more upright posture and it makes you more flexible too. You stand on a soft sole. I like the fact that when I stand, I’m not rigid and motionless, I am moving around.

Mrs and Mr Mpalastos from Mantoudi Evoias, Greece

Since the beginning of January 2015 I (77 years old) couldn't walk more than 50 meters because of numbness and pain in both legs. I was diagnosed "Central Stenosis" of lumbar spine. I was told by several doctors that I will need to have spinal operation. My wife Stavroula (72 years old) had a similar problem 1 year ago. She couldn’t walk more than 30 meters because of left leg pain. She was diagnosed with “Lateral Stenosis”.  She overcame her problem after intense physical therapy, acupuncture, exercise and progressive walking with kyBoot after her physiotherapist recommended it. After all her treatment she was walking 2 km without rest, thus she suggested me to try first the same approach. After 4 months of therapy I could walk close to 1 km. I hesitated to buy kyBoot even I liked a lot, as I tried them for one day. My wife tried to persuade me to buy them because as she said they are not ordinary shoes but they are a valuable equipment. I hesitated because of the cost which was almost my half pension.  Now two months after wearing these wonderful shoes I feel very satisfied for my decision to buy them. I walk with my wife every day for 75 minutes with a fast pace. We compete with each other about who is going to finish first. Our goal is to walk 10 km a day with kyBoot in a couple years, when we are going to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary.

You don’t just stand in place; you’re constantly moving. That trains you up. It loosens you up, too. It's amazing.

Mrs. Zoi Rokomou from Greece

I was introduced to kyBoot from my physiotherapist, asking him to suggest me some shoes for walking after having spinal fusion of my last three segments of my lower back. From the first moment I stood on them I felt that they were going to help me, I got motivated to walk more and more because I really enjoyed the feeling by walking on them. After 6 weeks of their usage I noticed that: I could stand up for more than 3 hours straight without resting while before I could not stand up for more than 45 minutes, I could walk without rest for 70 minutes instead of 30, my swelling on my feet which had been there -after my low back operation 4 years ago - disappeared and I could distinguish different tendons and bones of my feet, the painful hallux valgus almost disappeared and finally some painful dilated blood vessels below of my right knee that I had been told to have some injections they no longer bother me and now I can not see them .

I really like to go on the treadmill because it’s fun and it’s easier to concentrate on it than when you’re just sitting in your seat.

One great advantage of the treadmill is that I feel more balanced when I go home each day. I’m not as tense. I’ve really gotten to move around; I’ve gotten any need I had to move around completely out of my system, which means that I can really romp around with my kids once I get home.

I can’t think of anything about these shoes that could be improved. If they were taken away from me, I would quit. They are so important. I feel happy every time I put them on and walk in them. They just work, almost of their own accord. I don’t have to exert myself when I walk in them. I don’t have to concentrate to walk five or six kilometres in them. I can walk with complete freedom. The shoes relax my whole body, which enables me to enjoy life! They are a lifeline. As you get older, you start to value this sort of thing.

It adds to lessons, as sitting is not good for your back. I think it is a very good thing when the children can stand up and move about. I use them a lot in lessons.

Cetin Köksal, professional musician, Switzerland

I think that the major difference is when I’m standing and practising normally I have a different posture for my neck vertebra. Now when I’m standing on the kyBounder, I feel like my hips are pushed forward more. I move my knees a little bit. The major difference is that now I’m always moving. It’s the kind of movement that you always need to balance out with your feet. I feel like this results in less tension.

Cetin Köksal, professional musician, Switzerland

Pupil at the SBW School in Switzerland

When I’m standing, I notice that my body moves around quite a bit. You need to constantly adjust your position to stay comfortable. When you’re sitting, you’re always tensed up and you stay in the same position. Sometimes that can distract you from learning.

Somehow it keeps you moving and this means you don’t become tired so quickly.

I prefer to stay standing, since it lets you move your feet better and you don’t have to stay sitting for the entire hour.

Gabriele Kastner, headmaster Falkschule, Germany

We were searching for a solution that would get the children at our school moving. They sit down for most of our classes, so we thought that we should change something in the classrooms. We discovered these desks by chance, in a short newspaper article. We had already included them in our pool of potential ideas, so we did some more research. That’s when we discovered the Swiss company that sells these desks here in Germany. The desks feature a gas pressure spring, which allows the height to be adjusted for each child. Height differences between students are sometimes as big as 60 cm, and these desks can be adjusted accordingly.

Gabriele Kastner, headmaster Falkschule, Germany

Helge, pupil from Germany

It’s simply much nicer than sitting, because when you’re sitting, you need to stay like that, but when you’re standing you can move around your feet. That is simply much nicer.

Helge, pupil from Germany

Gabriele Kastner, headmaster Falkschule, Germany

Studies to this end have shown that learning while standing also makes students more attentive. What’s great is that we also have a cushion along with each desk:the kyBounder. The kyBounder is soft as a feather, but you don’t sink into it. You stand on the cushion in a very relaxed way. While you stand on it, you need to constantly balance out the wobbliness, so to speak. That means you have to check whether you’re standing upright, which activates a large number of muscle groups. In turn, activating these muscle groups also activates your brain, which actually increases your attentiveness. You’d think it would be the other way around, but standing makes the kids pay much better attention.
